There's No Place Like Home

Ephesians 3:17 (NLT) – Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in Him.

I was drawn to my Keyword Bible this morning to find out what it means to make a home or dwell, as other translations say.  There’s intensity in this Greek word meaning to settle down permanently in a fixed home.  Christ ain’t goin’ nowhere!  Sorry!  Those are my Southern roots showing.

We know from scripture that nothing can separate us from His love, but there’s a difference between occupying the space and making a home.  Look at today’s scripture again. As you trust in Him, Christ begins to settle down and get comfortable.

Perhaps Jesus hangs a photo reminding you of a time you let Him lead that turned out far better than you imagined or one that represents a difficult stage of life when you felt His presence.  Jesus might stencil a Bible verse on the wall in fancy script or bold block lettering.  Perhaps He throws out some of the existing furniture and positions two cozy chairs close together for intimate conversation.  As time goes on, Jesus collects trinkets on the mantle reminding you of answered prayers.  The place begins to feel like home.

Can you imagine Christ making His home in your heart?  Trust in Him.
