Get Out Of The Way

Ephesians 3:20 (NLT) – Now all glory to God, who is able, through His mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.

God orchestrated yesterday’s post about #otherpeoplies in a fun way.  I always get a charge when I recognize His undeniable hand in my life.  You may have heard me say this before, but I repeat:  There are no coincidences.

Yesterday’s other-centered message began last week with a neighborly conversation about impatient drivers whose destination must be far more important than ours.  The discussion evolved into general headshaking about narcissism.  I began a post about aggressive drivers but couldn’t make it work.

This week I saw the Kid President #otherpeoplies Facebook photo.  I remembered the embarrassment I suffered over my parent’s ability to make friends with strangers, a tradition I now enjoy.  First thing in the morning, as is my habit, I began a post about selfies.  The words felt uninspiring so I pondered a little longer.  At midday I gave it another shot.  Nothing.  For the first time ever, I was pressured by a deadline (I’m part of a July challenge to blog every day).  At 10pm, long after my bedtime, I abandoned narcissism and composed a quick, lame devotion repeating the poke and shake reading technique.

The next morning I read about The ElevatorGame – so much fun!  The idea flipped my thoughts from complaining about self-importance to proactive friendliness.  I also connected with this wonderfully fun blogger (  I was full of Holy Spirit energy as the words flowed.

That’s not all!  God’s timing was absolutely perfect!  After all of this, I received a comment regarding my quick, lame poke and shake post.  Uh-oh!  But no!  This reader said “I love your posts this week – the marinating in a short scripture and asking us to read it over a few times so something pops out – I really like that.  Thanks for the encouragement!”
How do you like that?  I just needed to get out of His way.  God perfectly timed all the pieces to inspire you exactly as needed.  I love it!  So let me just get out of His way.

Thanks for hanging in there for this rather long story.  When have you experienced God’s perfect timing?

  1. Ah, this was very interesting although, I believe more in angels rather than God.

    1. I believe angels and God go hand in hand. The Bible is full of God sending angels as His agents. Thanks for reading and commenting. -Cathy

    2. Hi Sophie, thanks for mentioning Angels because most traditions have almost forgotten about Angels, despite them being a big part of God's plan. In my Christian tradition, praying to angels to intercede for us is not seen as taboo. The difference is that we believe Angels to be messengers of God

  2. Your thoughts are so true. God's timing is always perfect. But we fail to see His hand in the happenings of our daily lives and term it as coincidence.

    1. My friends are tired of hearing me repeat my motto "There are no coincidences". Some people call them GodIncidences. He is always at work. Thanks for reading and commenting. -Cathy
