Guidance

2 Timothy 4:2 (NLT) – Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage – with great patience and careful instruction.

A crucial component to my son’s achievement that I neglected to mention yesterday is guidance.  Addison’s wonderful mentor and coach guides both his physical and mental training.  As a champion himself, Coach Levon has valuable experience to share.  He has led Addison step by step through the basics and on to more advanced levels, teaching, encouraging and challenging him.  Together, they have laid a strong foundation and continue to build toward the goal.

We, too, need a spiritual mentor in our faith journey.  We grow stronger with a more mature Christian walking alongside - someone further down the path who perhaps has taken similar detours, someone to talk with about faith, someone to look up to. We need a mentor who will keep us on track and challenge us to continually draw closer to Him.

Do you have a spiritual mentor?  Are you guiding someone along in their faith?

Do you need a daily reminder to reflect on God’s Word?  Follow me on Twitter @Cathy_Chung to read a short bit of scripture to ponder.

  1. Hi, Cathy.
I have come here through Ultimate Blog Challenge, and I am glad to be here.
I am thankful for all the people who remind me of the love of God, including my pastors, the people in our local church, and my friends who are Christians. Thinking of them encourages me in my daily walk with Jesus. It would be a great honor if He would use me to guide someone to Him in the future.

    1. If you are willing and keep your eyes open, God will definitely use you Romi. You may not even realize it at the time. A friend might just look up to you and admire your lifestyle and joy. Your everyday words and actions could be their guide. My goal is to encourage people to read God's Word regularly with a gentle reminder and quick devotion. Thanks for reading and commenting. I'm sorry I haven't responded sooner. I'm trying to keep up with the UBC.

    1. I'm so glad you have a daily routine. My goal is to encourage people to read God's Word regularly with a gentle reminder and quick devotion. I don't presume to be the solution for everyone and I am happy to help people find a daily devotional that speaks to them. There are so many good ones on the web and in print.

  3. Thank you so much Cathy for providing this post. We can try to do so much on our own, but whether we have a mentor, coach, teacher or leader, they are there in our lives to help us with our guided path or direction that is intended by our Father. This is a great reminder! Thank you!

    1. I think the hardest job a guide or mentor has is correction. It takes a strong spiritual friendship to offer or receive rebuke, but it can be most useful
