You're Wrong!

2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NLT) All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives.  It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.  God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.

You’re wrong!

What thoughts or feelings just came to the surface?  Are you immediately defensive or do you welcome correction?  Are you like me in that it depends on who’s speaking?  Does anyone like to be told they’re wrong?

No one is perfect, so correction is inevitable.

The Apostle Paul writes that the Bible was written to point out what’s wrong in your life and then point you to what’s right.  Is this how you read Scripture?  When your life doesn’t align with biblical teaching, do you reposition yourself or dismiss it as ancient moral code?

Read the verse again paying close attention to the last sentence.  Go ahead, I’ll wait.

There’s a purpose to God’s plan!  Who knew?  God is equipping you to do His good work!  It’s like learning the alphabet in Kindergarten so you can learn to read in 1st grade, so you can learn from what you read in 3rd grade, so you can grasp a larger concept in high school, and think for yourself in college.  Biblical instruction is preparing you for something bigger and better!  As you understand the context and intent of the lesson, you progressively become more like Jesus and more useful for God’s purposes.

What grade are you in?  Do you take correction from the Bible? (tweet this)
