How's Your Accent?

Romans 12:2 (NLT) Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.  Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

[It’s official.  This is part 4 in a series.  Click here to start at the beginning.]

Is it possible to live in heaven without dying first?

In a way, yes.

Have you ever been inside the US embassy while visiting a foreign country?  It feels like home.  They fly the American flag, speak English, and shake hands rather than bow or kiss cheeks.

Likewise, the church should be an embassy for God’s Kingdom - a heavenly outpost right here on earth.  A Kingdom community looks and feels very different from the world.  Kingdom ambassadors cooperate instead of compete, share instead of hoard, serve others without seeking attention, love our enemies instead of seeking revenge, and forgive because God has shown us grace.

Kingdom ambassadors have an accent and mannerisms that indicate they’re not from around here.

Committed followers of Jesus create a heavenly outpost right here on earth.
