Colossians 3:16 (NLT) Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives.
Are you still recovering from your Thanksgiving weekend? Perhaps you cooked up a feast or entertained house guests. Perhaps you fought traffic or things weren’t what you hoped for. Maybe Thanksgiving is already a distant memory because you dove head first in to Christmas? Even if yours was an idyllic, Norman Rockwell holiday, your tank probably needs filling in this first week of Advent. Let’s step back and gain some perspective. Let’s fill ‘er up.
So… What is the message about Christ? What is its richness?
Don’t skim over these two questions and quickly read ahead to get the answer. Form your own response. You must know the message personally before it can fill you.
What is it about Jesus?
For me, the richness of the message lies in all the different ways He touches us. Does Christ’s humanity and vulnerability bring you comfort - knowing that He physically experienced the same joys and hardships of life? Is the message His love? Are you moved that He knows your name and cares about your heart? Or that He knows your heart and accepts you anyway? Is the message found in His suffering or the victory of His resurrection? Perhaps you most appreciate His sweeping forgiveness or the hope you find in His promises.
