Make Some Room For Me

Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves.
–Apostle Paul
2 Corinthians 13:5 (NIV)

Is there space in your life for reflection?

Perhaps you review the day while driving home from work or before falling asleep. Maybe in the quiet of the morning you search your heart.

We need time to ignore the interruptions, muffle the noise, and look inward.

Test yourself. Are you in the faith?

What kind of person have you become? Could you be identified as a follower of Jesus? Based on your life, what do you value? Where are you headed? What are your priorities? How do you think about and interact people?

Jesus often went off by himself to talk to the Father and re-center himself. If he needed this time, how much more do we?

Often. Routinely. Daily.

Seeds of Scripture encourages making a habit of spending time with God in His Word and in prayer. But don’t just read the scripture as a box to check off. Think about how it impacts your life. Let it roll around in your head during the day. Listen to the small voice of God encouraging and responding to your thoughts.

These habits keep you in the faith.

Subscribing to Seeds, or any devotion that speaks to you, provides a gentle prod toward daily time with God. An email will poke you from your inbox. You can’t miss the tweet or Facebook post. You can ignore the nudge or postpone it to a better time, but you’re reminded to stay in the faith.

Whether you talk to God while waiting in line, over a cup of coffee, or walking the dog, He is right there on your mobile device, ready and waiting.
