What Does Trust Look Like?

Blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.
Jeremiah 17:7-8 (NLT)

This scene feels like a lovely Thomas Kincaid painting – an ambling river lined with lush trees producing delicious fruit year round. The visual evokes feelings of peace, beauty, contentment, abundance, and stability.

Would you like to live there?

Does it sound appealing to have a deep inner source of sustenance enabling you to remain fresh and productive no matter the intensity or duration of ups and downs?

The good news is that it’s possible and Jeremiah gives us the formula!

Trust in the Lord. Trust grows with each small step of faith. When we follow God’s guidance into the unknown, He is faithful to equip us for the task. His power is strongest when we are weak. God is faithful and can be trusted.

Make Him our hope and confidence. We must stand confidently on His promises and believe in His good plan regardless of whether the evidence supports it. Know that He is with us even when we don’t feel Him.

Establish a broad, firm support system in His love and provision. When we continually seek to fill our heart and soul with His love, truth, and Spirit, we’ll know the confident peace of His hand at work no matter the circumstances. We’ll have a network of spiritual friends, expansive knowledge of His instructions, security in His love, and His Spirit flowing through us.

How can you deepen your trust in the Lord and His promises? (tweet this)
